Spinal Adjustment
Hands-on manipulation to correct spinal misalignments and restore proper function
About This Treatment
Spinal adjustment, also called spinal manipulation, is the primary treatment technique used by chiropractors. Using controlled force, chiropractors apply quick, specific thrusts to vertebrae that are misaligned or not moving properly. This restores proper motion and alignment to the spine, reduces nerve irritation, improves function, and decreases pain. Many techniques exist, from gentle to more forceful.

What to Expect
Your first visit includes a consultation, examination, and possibly X-rays. The chiropractor identifies problem areas and explains the treatment plan. During adjustment, you'll lie on a special table while the chiropractor applies quick, controlled pressure to specific joints. You may hear popping sounds (gas bubbles releasing). Sessions last 15-30 minutes. Relief may be immediate or build over several visits.
