Shiatsu
Japanese acupressure massage working with energy meridians
About This Treatment
Shiatsu is a Japanese massage technique that uses finger and palm pressure on acupressure points to balance the body's energy flow (qi/ki). "Shi" means finger and "atsu" means pressure. Practitioners apply rhythmic, sustained pressure along meridians to release blockages, reduce tension, and promote healing. Like Thai massage, it's performed on a mat with the client clothed.
Benefits
- Balances energy meridians
- Relieves stress and tension
- Reduces headaches
- Improves sleep quality

- Alleviates back and neck pain

What to Expect
Wear comfortable, loose clothing. You'll lie on a floor mat while the practitioner applies pressure using thumbs, fingers, palms, elbows, and sometimes knees and feet. The pressure is firm but should not be painful. Sessions last 60-90 minutes. You may feel deeply relaxed or energized. Some people experience emotional release. Drink plenty of water afterward.
